Dave is considered one of the best bankruptcy attorneys in the Kansas City area. Although he normally represents debtors, collection agencies and creditors have sought out Dave for legal representation.

Bill has handled personal injury cases since his admission to the bar. He was involved in two multi-million dollar cases: Rueff v. Teledyne et al. and Schumann v. Teledyne et al. These cases arose from an airplane crash which occurred in April 1998 when a plane engine failed. All of the occupants (five skydivers and the pilot) were killed as a result of the impact. Each cased settled for $4.5 million.

Bill has also successfully pursued life insurance cases. In one instance, a life insurance company denied coverage to a mother who lost her teenage daughter. The mother spoke with four other firms before contacting Barlow & Niffen. Each of those firms turned down the case due to the improbability of a recovery from the life insurance company. Bill pursued the case and settled it for the entire policy limit plus interest.

Bill recently won a six figure arbitration award for a woman injured in a car collision in Johnson County, Kansas. The woman was injured when a car driven by a drunk driver slammed into the rear of her vehicle causing her injuries. Bill went after the drunk driver, and obtained a settlement for his policy limit. He then pursued the woman's underinsured motorist coverage. After arbitrating the case, Bill recovered an award of four times what the woman's insurance company offered to pay.

Bill handled a case for a man who visited Florida with his family. During the trip, the man was injured in an automobile collision. The man's insurance company denied coverage and relied on Florida law in doing so. Bill proved to the insurance company that Missouri law applied. As a result, the insurance company paid the full amount on three different car insurance policies and also had to give up the limit of the medical payments coverage.

In another instance of helping the injured, Bill represented a woman who was hurt on the job. The insurance company for the employer rated the woman as 7.5% permanently disabled. Bill took on the insurance company. By the time the insurance company agreed to settle, it paid an amount equal to 50% disability; almost seven times the original offer.

Bill represented a young lady who was a victim of road rage. Another driver followed her and ran over the young lady as she attempted to flee the pursuing driver. The driver's insurance company denied coverage due to the intentional acts. Bill found insurance coverage on three cars insured by the young lady's father. The father's insurance company agreed to pay the limit on all three policies.

Additionally, Bill regularly handles cases for other attorneys. He is widely respected for his knowledge of insurance coverage and his ability to present cases to insurance companies in a persuasive manner which often leads to significant settlements.

In traffic court, Bill represented a young lady accused of driving under the influence. After discussing the situation with the prosecutor, the DUI was dismissed.

Bill represented a truck driver accused of leaving the scene of a collision. After a thorough investigation, Bill convinced the prosecutor to drop all the charges.
